Blankets to help family after ordeal

Duduza – The Matlala family has been continually receiving help from the community after their home burnt down in July last year.

The family recently received a donation of blankets from some members of the Evangelic Lutheran Church in Southern Africa, Nigel parish.

“We are donating five blankets to the family after the ordeal they faced last winter, when their house burnt down.

“After this happened we felt we should rally up and assist them, especially now as it is still winter.

“We thought we should just add on to what they already have as a church, to show we care as they are part of our church, hence it is imperative to give to our own,” says project coordinator of this initiative Andy Mpye.

He adds that through this they are also doing God’s work and responding to their pastor’s call, to help one of their own fellow members in need.

Pastor Puleng Mkhatshwa thanks all who participated in ensuring this initiative became a success.

“This donation is being done through the project coordinator and his family, therefore we are grateful to them as a church.

“As the people of God, we are obliged to take care of those in need hence we are able to give back today,” she says.

Recipient of the blankets Nonhlanhla Matlala (50) says since the accident, the family has been very thankful to all those who have assisted them, especially members of her church.

“Thank you to everyone from the church, for all their help over the past few months.

“Their prayers have made a huge difference in our lives and made us stronger.

“May God bless them and may they continue doing this for others,” she says.
