Hip-hop artist talks big

Daveyton – Hip-hop artist Mduduzi 'Mjay Da Spoilt Brat' Mahlangu (23) is currently working on his next offering after releasing his first album, Dreams and Nightmares in 2014.

His single Mamasita is currently getting airplay on Metro FM and Sosha FM.

Born in Daveyton, the rapper says he has always been a music lover from a young age.

After joining a hip-hop dancing group he then came to the realisation that he could rhyme.

“It was in 2010 when I realised that I could rap and I started rhyming and I have never looked back since then.

“I’m proud, I’ve awards and shared stages with big artists in the country,” says the rapper.

He bagged the best newcomer, best male and best performer in the Streets Are Fed Up Awards in Benoni.

He prides himself on the fact that he is doing all his music independently and is not signed under any record label but still managed to sell more than 2 000 copies from the boot of his car.

He has shared stages with many prominent artists in the country in the past and he looks up to local rappers AKA and KO, and he is also inspired by international artists J Cole and Jay Z.

Mjay Da Spoilt Brat promises his fans a more lively and musical album as opposed to his first album which was more relaxed and inspirational.

“The first album was my first attempt. Now I have found my sound and I know exactly what my audience wants to hear.

“I’m more confident in myself and I have found inspiration from different life experiences,” adds the artist.

On his future plans, he wants to have his own stable and fashion line that will complement his music.

Fans may get his music on SoundCloud as Mjaydaspoiltbratsa and can follow him on Instagram at Mjay_da_spoilt_brat.
