According to police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora, the complainant was heading home at around 1pm, from the Dunnottar Library, when the incident occurred.
As he entered John Dube Village, three suspects came towards him.
One took out a gun and another took out a knife.
The suspects took the complainant’s cellphone and ran away on foot.
Police are investigating a case of armed robbery.
