Talent show kicks off in Tsakane

Tsakane – BKM Recording Studios launched its campaign for a talent show it will host for high school learner across Tsakane.

The campaign kicked off at the African School for Excellence in Tsakane on Tuesday, where learners were spoilt to performances and motivational sessions.

Founder Blessing Khumo (25) says the talent show aims to identify young songwriters, artists, instrumentalists, producers and poets in the community.

He says the idea came about after he saw that there are no artistic activities involving the youth through different crafts in his community .

“We want to empower the youth through art and what better place to find them if not at school?

“The rise of substance abuse and alcohol is too high, so we sought to keep the youth busy through positive activities which may also lead to careers for them,” he says.

The talent search will run through eight secondary schools in Tsakane. Two learners from each school will be in the final round, where they can win a recording deal with BKM Recording Studios.

Finalists will be groomed to form a band.

“We plan on doing this talent search annually. This is the first year; hence we are campaigning and making learners aware of the talent search.

“Our plan is to take the competition to the whole of Kwatsaduza and then expand to other parts of the country,” adds Khumo.
