School gets cleaned for 67 minutes

Kwatsaduza – Ekurhuleni Peace Corps members cleaned up the Phelang LSEN School on Monday, as part of their 67 minutes for Mandela Day celebrations.

The school premises was cleaned under the supervision of supervisor metro police officer, Jerry Matlakeng.

“During our discussions as a group, when we were deciding who we were going to help, we saw many people were avoiding helping these children, hence we came to show them love and care.

“We cleaned the school classrooms on the outside and packed some bricks, while one of our members helped teach the children how to weld.

“We also saw it was time to show the community, we care about other things apart from crime prevention,” says Peace Corps member Mpho Mogapi.

He adds the school is in need of the community’s support, as the children have projects they do and need residents to assist them.
