4+1 fare remains R6

Duduza - The Nigel Taxi Association (NTA) strongly states that commuters on 4+1 taxis shouldn't pay R7 for the taxi fare.

According to Pitso Mofokeng, secretary of the association, says last Thursday some drivers put out an illegal notice stipulating that the fare would increase from R6 to R7 from the beginning of July.

He says the NTA didn’t approve the increase and the minority of 4+1 drivers who have the illegal notices should be reported.

“We are warning commuters to not fall victim to this scam and should contact the NTA should they spot a 4+1 taxi with the notice.

“They should take the sticker number and registration number so we may identify the culprits,” he says.

Mofokeng says going forward the association will send a clear notice with the NTA’s letterhead and also hold a public meeting.

Commuters who have issues with 4+1 taxis in Duduza should contact the NTA on 011 814 1007.
