Police warn of hijacking increase

KwaThema – The police are pleading with locals to beef up on their motor security as hijackings and motor vehicle theft increase.

Police spokesman, W/O David Mphali shares that they are concerned with the high numbers of vehicles being hijacked or taken from people’s yards in the area.

“From reports that we have been getting, some of these drivers are being targeted on our roads late at night or in the early hours of the morning. Where people who park their cars in yards with minimal security and not in a garage, cars are also being taken.

“We are asking for our drivers to park their vehicles in garages that can be locked, or in a place that has a secure wall with a gate that can be locked.

“If this is not possible also try to install a tracking device or alarm on the cars so that should you be targeted, it can be a bit easier to get back your vehicle,” he advises.
