Man hunt launched for murder suspects who stabbed man in head

KwaThema - On Monday at about 5.30pm it is alleged that a group of about five unknown men, went to a house at Mohlala Street in Phomolo Section.

It is believed that the men barged into the home and demanded for 32-year-old Joshua Mphatswe Mokoena, since deceased, to go out with them.

“The deceased was visiting at his friend’s home when these men came for him.

“Though the friend of the deceased and his family were suspicious, when the men asked for him, they did not think much of it at the time.

“Mokoena went out with the suspects but he never made it back, therefore it is unclear whether the suspects kidnapped the deceased and if they were using a vehicle or were on foot,” says police spokesman W/O David Mphali.

He adds that after some time when the friend went out to look for the deceased, he couldn’t find him, so he alerted his family and they advised him to go to the police station to report the matter.

“With the assistance of the police, at around 10pm while the officers and the friend were searching the area, they came across an ambulance at Hlabangane Street in Tornado.

“When the officers went to inquire they found the same man who had just been reported missing, being helped by paramedics as he had been badly assaulted and stabbed in the head.

“He was taken to Pholosong Hospital for medical treatment but died shortly after arriving at the hospital,” says Mphali.

Police say it is unclear at this stage who the suspects are or what the motive of the crime is, but police are investigating a case of kidnapping and murder.

“We are appealing to anyone who might have information or who saw anything on the day regarding this incident, to come forward and help in solving the case,” asks Mphali.
