Youth serious about cleaning

Tsakane - The youth of Tsakane are ready to take cleaning to the next level; offering a variety of cleaning services.

Nkosinathi Shabalala (25) and Thando Fana (25) recently started a bin-cleaning service, Vukani Bafana to service residents of Extension 19 in Tsakane.

Cleaning a total of 70 dustbins a week, on Monday and Wednesday at the cost of R10 per dustbin, they are serious about taking over the rest of the community.

Like many other young people in the townships, they are unemployed and wanted to keep busy and not fall into the trap of substance abuse and crime like many other boys their age.

“We grew tired of depending on our parents for financial security so we saw an opportunity that would give us an income so we may afford our basic needs like other people.

The truth is not everyone will get employed therefore we cannot rely on job opportunities; some of us will have to be entrepreneurs in order to create employment for others,” says Fana.

“The biggest challenge we are faced with is water and working stations.

“Currently we are cleaning the bins in the middle of the road, which is not ideal as we are causing traffic for motorists,” explains Shabalala.

In the near future the lads want to take their business to the next level by moving to a more professional working station and building a reputable cleaning business.”We are serious about our business and want to expand; there is a market for our service and we want to grab the opportunity with both hands,” adds Fana.
