This comes after the accused had met the 22-year-old complainant at a tavern in the area, late Sunday evening.
The two had proceeded to another tavern and later left and went to the home of the suspect, explains local police spokesman W/O David Mphali.
“At about midnight, the two arrived at the home of the accused, where the complainant states that she resisted to enter but was pulled in by the young man who then locked the door and hid the key.
“The suspect asked to have sex with complainant but she says she refused and that’s when he suspect allegedly stripped off her clothes and raped her,” says Mphali.
He adds that in the early hours of the morning, the complainant says she asked for the key, to go to the outside toilet and when the accused gave it to her, she was able to escape.
“After this the complainant went to the police station, reported the incident but since she wasn’t exactly sure of the residential address of the accused, she led the police to the home of the young man.
“He was then arrested and remains in police custody at the Modderbee Prison as he will soon appear in court,” says Mphali.
