EMPD spokesman Wilfred Kgasago said EMPD First Responder Unit members recovered the hijacked vehicle in Tsakane Extension Four, where it had been abandoned with minor damage,on Sunday, at around 10am.
“The metro police came across the vehicle while patrolling the area and, on enquiry, received confirmation of it having been hijacked,” he added.
“It was further discovered that the owner was not harmed during the hijacking and he was able to open a case with Tsakane Police Station on the same night the incident took place.”
After formalities were concluded on the vehicle by an SAPS forensics team, the owner of the vehicle was contacted and he brought along the spare key for his recovered car to be driven to SAPS Van Ryn Deep pound, in Benoni.
