Duduza man convicted for rape, robbery and assault

Duduza – Thabang Ephraim Maseko (25) was convicted recently at the Nigel Regional Court for rape, robbery and assault.

The conviction took place on May 16 following Maseko’s arrest on April 15, 2015, due to an incident that occurred on July 26, 2014 at about 3am in Bluegum View Duduza.

According to police spokesman Capt Jonnanes Ramphora the complainant (age unknown) was at a tavern with friends when the crime took place.

“The woman was on her way to the toilet when she was pulled by the Maseko who acted as if he wanted to talk to her.

“He then pulled her to an open veld, raped her and took her money and cellphone.

“Maseko was convicted of 15 years for the rape, 10 years for robbery, another 10 years for assault and was declared unfit to possess a firearm,” says Ramphora.

The detainee has started serving his sentence at Nigel Prison.
