Cool Dads do their bit

KwaThema - Last Saturday Cool Dads Foundation launched the Big Brother Programme as a way to empower 80 hopeful young boys from disadvantaged backgrounds, single parent households and orphans.

The event was held at Indaba Tree in KwaThema and attended by many young boys from local schools.

A program for the day was organised providing a platform for invited speakers to give talks and share advice as a way of giving direction to the boys.

The boys were later put through their paces when they were made to interact with each other in groups completing a number of team building exercises and obstacle courses.

“We are grateful to all our stakeholders, invited guests and mentors who have risen to the occasion for this important event and honouring the purpose of mentoring young people,” said founder Bongani Luvalo.

The big brother mentors, who will eventually take on the tasks of grooming the young boys, have pledged to continue to work with the identified boys who will benefit from this initiative.

The day was wrapped up with lunch and the boys received goodie bags to take home.
