Zamani Grade Rs stand out in science competition

KwaThema – You are never too young to achieve and this can be attested to by two Grade R learners from Zamani Primary School who recently obtained third position in a science competition.

The duo comprising Gugulethu Sekati (5) and Nomfundo Thabethe (6) participated in the science contest which was held at Selpark Primary School, last week Wednesday, where Circuit Three schools falling under the Gauteng East District competed.

“We did a waterfall of a rainbow by mixing primary colours to set secondary colours and this was a very fun learning experience for our young people.

“The competition was for children to create any scientific thing suitable for their grade and from school level, they went to compete with other schools locally and now will be heading to district level.

“We are very proud of these two shining stars for doing so well and putting our school on the map,” says acting head of department for the foundation phase of the school, Nomvula Mokasi.

School principal Selby Nkosi shared he is excited and proud of the accomplishment of these two learners especially at this age.

“The fact that these two young minds can already go out and represent our school, shows great ability especially being so young.

“We hope this exposure to science, will help them develop a great love and understanding for the subject as they grow older,” he says.
