Radebe will be missed

KwaThema - Local teacher Martha Thokozile Radebe died on May 6 after a short illness.

Radebe was born on September 28, 1960, in Springs as the second child of Salome and Ezra Radebe.

She started her schooling career at Masimini Primary School in KwaThema and proceeded to Phulong Secondary School and finished her secondary schooling at Mjokwane Senior Secondary School in Komatipoort.

Radebe started working as an assistant nurse at Pollak Park Hospital before she embarked on her teaching career.

In 1980 she completed her senior teacher’s diploma at the East Rand College and in 1981 Radebe started teaching at the Setlakwane Primary School in Secunda.

After a year she moved to the Ekusasalethu Secondary School in Secunda.

In 1996 Radebe acquired her BA degree in education through Unisa and in 2009 she received her postgraduate diploma in HIV/AIDS management through Stellenbosch University.

She went on to teach at Buhlebemfundo Secondary School in Tsakane and M.O.M Seboni Secondary School in Duduza.

Radebe was an educator at Extension Eight Secondary School in Tsakane when she died.

She was also a devoted member of the Methodist Church in KwaThema, a member of the women’s fellowship and a committed member of the true templars.

Her presence will be sorely missed by her church, friends and family and colleagues.

She leaves behind her only daughter Palesa Radebe, her mother, brother Archie Radebe, and her sister Caris Radebe.

The church service will be held on Saturday at 7am, at the KwaThema Central Methodist Church in Kgaswane Street.

Cortége will leave for the Vlakfontein Cemetery at 9am, where she will be laid to rest.
