Tebogo Matjie is living his dream

Duduza - Tebogo Matjie (26) has released his very first book, The Journey Goes On, after four years of trying to get it published.

It was launched on March 17 at Bondesio Hall, Randfontein on the West Rand.

The book talks about the life challenges Matjie had to overcome and inspires the youth to never stop dreaming and to turn their dreams into reality.

The Duduza resident says his urge to start writing is all thanks to a cellphone he received as a gift in 2010 from his mother’s employers.

Matjie explains that it was the first cellphone he had ever owned and till today he still has the cellphone that inspired him.

“The cellphone played a huge role in opening me up to the world of the internet, which helped me research in order to write the book,” says Matjie.

He says he spent long hours every day in solitude to write the book, which later proved more challenging to publish.

Because of his love of literature he started surrounding himself with like-minded people, which led him to meet his publishers, Iphupho Publishing Services, who saw his potential and gave him his break.

“I knocked on many doors to get assistance to publish the book but no one was willing to assist me, but eventually someone saw my vision and determination.

“This to me is motivation for anybody who is working towards anything in life: if you keep pushing, one day you will get there,” says the author.

Currently Matjie is promoting his book at seminars and libraries around Ekurhuleni.

“I’m still in talks with a distribution company to get my book in nationwide bookshops in the near future,” he adds.

On May 7 he will be hosting a seminar at the Duduza Library, at 10.30am. The community is invited to attend.
