Theft of 4+1 taxi raises concern – police issues warning

KwaThema – On April 23 at about 7pm a complainant reported that he had parked his 4+1 taxi at the KwaThema Shoprite parking, when the car disappeared.

Police W/O David Mphali says according to the complainant, all the doors of the vehicle were locked and the windows were closed before he went into the shop.

But, after a couple of minutes, when he came out of the shop he noticed that his 4+1 taxi was missing.

The green Mazda 323, with registration number DR14ZN GP, valued at R30 000, was gone and nowhere to be found.

“The car has no tracker and the complainant has no one he suspects.

“We have filed a case of theft of a motor vehicle; however, no arrests have been made and the car has not yet been recovered.

“We urge 4+1 taxi owners to ensure that they install alarm systems or tracking devices in their cars and to insure them, while drivers of these cars should also be more vigilant as it seems as though these taxis are being targeted at the moment,” he adds.
