Bongs’ business helps others to put food on the table #MakingIt

Tsakane – Bongs Tyre Service owner Bongani Mlotshwa opted to open his own business two years after gaining two years experience with an employer, and he has never looked back.

“After I had worked for a tyre company, I felt it was time to do something for myself,” he says.

”I decided to open the doors of my own business, so that I could grow, while also helping to create employment for other people in the township.

“I developed my business around selling tyres and doing tyre balancing, although, in the long run, I wish to expand my services, so that I can introduce wheel alignment and exhaust pipes into my business.”

Mlotshwa further explains that it has not been an easy journey getting to where he is today in this business.

“There have been a lot of challenges with running a business in the township as, sometimes, people don’t come as often as you hope for.

“Another issue I have had to deal with numerous times is that people sometimes steal from you.”

Asked how he deals with such setbacks, he states that it is imperative for one, as a business owner, to always stay calm, address issues with customers or workers when they arise and move on to other matters.

On the other hand, Mlotshwa adds, he is pleased that business is doing well and that locals have been very supportive, though he admits that one can never have enough support in order for the business to grow.

In sharing advice with upcoming entrepreneurs, Mlotshwa says if you are going to go into business, you need to be patient and to persevere.

He adds that his happiest moments have come from knowing that he has been able to help to create employment for other people, so that they can put food on the table for their families.

Mlotshwa wishes to see his business grow and to be a success, so that he can employ more people, as he currently has only four workers.
