Youth given a chance

Langaville - Youth First Organisation is making a difference in the lives of the youth in the community.

The newly established organisation aims to bring hope to the youth of today who are faced by many challenges, including unemployment.

Speaking on behalf of the organisation, Tshepiso Sibeko says when they saw that many young people were involved in substance abuse and criminal activities, they felt the need to intervene to help the youth.

“As an organisation we run quite a number of programmes to engage and educate the youth about the dangers of substance abuse and crime, the importance of education and healthy living,” says Sibeko.

Through workshops and projects run by the organisation, the youth are able to gain skills to uplift themselves and become more employable in the job market.

Sindiswa Jaxa, programmes manager, explains that through empowering the youth and equipping them with skills, the chances of them getting involved in substance abuse and crime decreases.

As an organisation they strive to bring in as many programmes for the youth to get involve in.

“The only thing the youth want is to be active members of the community, who bring about change and improvement in the lives of their fellow people.

“But unemployment and crime has denied the youth that chance to make a difference, so we want to give them that opportunity to be heroes in their own right,” adds Jaxa.
