Youth empowered with skills

Daveyton – Learners from outside and around the country gathered in Durban to attend the Boxer Youth Development Programme.

The gathering of young people, ranging from 16 and 18 years old, was aimed at equipping learners with an opportunity of experiencing new things while expanding their knowledge, expressing their opinions within a controlled and safe environment and exploring new places.

These candidates were successfully selected from their entries which consisted of a 500 word essay about which singer or music group inspires them and why.

The essays received were read, judged and the top ones were selected, giving those learners the opportunity to attend the programme.

“The main aim of this programme is to empower the youth of today because sometimes young people need to be reminded that they have the ability to achieve their dreams despite the challenges they may face.

“Through this programme this is exactly what we achieve annually.

“The class of 2016 encompassed learners of a very high caliber which just edified the need for a sustained programme such as this one,” says Boxer spokesperson Prenella Ragavan.
