Crime increase over Easter holidays

Tsakane – Local police are encouraging community members to form neighbourhood watches and street committees so they can fight crime together.

This comes after there was an increase in cases of assault and house break-ins over the Easter weekend.

“Over the Easter holidays, there was a total of 21 cases of assault and 14 cases of house robbery reported within Tsakane.

“The hard work of officers saw a total of 21 suspects being arrested, with 15 for assault and six for house break-in and theft.

“As the police we are appealing to the community to work together with us in this fight against crime through the formation of street committees and neighbourhood watches,” says Capt Petros Mabuza of the Tsakane police.
