Prayer day for matric learners

KwaThema -The KwaThema Central Methodist Church will be hosting a prayer day and award ceremony on Saturday.

The day will see the top achievers of the class of 2015 being honoured for their achievements.

For the past eight years the Methodist Church has committed itself to host this event as a form of encouragement and motivation for learners to excel in their studies.

Each high school in KwaThema identifies their three top students to be honoured on the day and others are also identified by the church.

The top ten learners will receive tablets.

Reverend Smadz Matsepe says this is a humble contribution they make to the community which will also motivate other learners to work hard in their academic careers.

“Education is the only way to curb unemployment in our communities and with initiative we aim to motivate and inspire learners to take education seriously,” he says.

Guests will include Minister of Education Angie Motshekga, MEC of Education Panyaza Lesufi and other community leaders.

All matric students in the community are invited to join the prayer day and award ceremony at 9am, at the KwaThema Central Methodist Church in Kgaswane Street.
