KwaThema man killed in what police believe to be a ‘hit’

KwaThema – The KwaThema police have logged a manhunt for three suspects who are believed to be involved in a murder and an attempted murder case.

This comes after the trio allegedly went into a yard at Madiba Street, in Extension Three and shot two men.

“On March 11, at about 10pm, it is alleged that three unknown armed suspects went into a yard with three shacks in it.

“The men knocked on the door of the first shack claiming to be policemen, but after getting no response they kicked open the door, found the 31-year-old man in bed and shot him numerous times.

“The deceased sustained a number of bullet wounds to his head and body, which lead us to believe it was a hit,” says KwaThema SAPS spokesperson, W/O David Mphali.

After that the trio moved on to the second shack, knocked again and broke down the door, but saw no one there as the two men in that shack had hidden under the bed.

The suspects then went on to the third shack, but this time only one of the armed suspects went in, found a 27-year-old man and tried to shoot him, says Mphali.

He adds that the two men fought for the gun and the suspect managed to shoot the victim in his right shoulder.

“From information we have, the two suspects who had remained outside then called the third suspect saying that they should go as they had done what they had set out to do.

“Paramedics were then called to the scene where they declared the 31-year-old dead while the 27-year-old was rushed off to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

“At the moment motive for the two shootings is unclear and no arrests have been made, but we are pleading for any witnesses to come forward with information that can help us solve this matter,” says Mphali.
