Tsakane mall management speaks up

Tsakane – Tsakane Mall centre manager Sydney Mkhabela has explained to the African Reporter the situation regarding the deterioration of the men’s toilets at the mall.

He says that they are currently refurbishing parts of the mall, which will include the mall’s toilet system.

“The current system is old and after a while it needs maintenance or repairs so we will be fixing all toilets inside the mall,” he says.

He says the men’s toilets are functional and it’s the urinals that have been vandalised, but after many attempts to repair them, customers keep vandalising them.

The manager also highlights the fact that the mall’s toilets are not only used by shoppers but also taxi drivers and vendors outside the mall.

Mkhabela explains how they are faced with members of the public who steal the centre’s property, such as lights, taps and hand dryers.

“We as management cannot constantly monitor or prevent such behaviour from occurring and such incidents cost the centre a lot of money.

“Recently downlights from the men’s toilets were stolen, which has led us to change the lighting system so that we install lighting that will be harder for criminals to disconnect” he adds.

A local plumbing company has already been appointed for the refurbishment of the toilets and in the next couple of weeks the repairs will begin.

Mkhabela urges the community to refrain from vandalising any property of the mall, as the mall was built for them and it’s therefore their responsibility to make sure no vandalism takes place.
