Armed robbers on the run

KwaThema – Staff members from two local funeral parlours were robbed at the KwaThema Civic Centre at about 3pm on Monday.

According to police, the staff members were seated in tents when two males with firearms approached them.

“The suspects demanded money, which was surprising as they seemed to be informed.

“The staff then handed it over and the two fled the scene, but as people tried to stop them, they fired warning shots as they rushed to their getaway car, a white Polo.

“Witnesses say that the car had been parked on Moshoeshoe Street,” says KwaThema spokesman, W/O David Mphali.

He says no arrests have been made. However the suspects were able to get away with more than R12 000.

Anyone with any information on this incident can contact detective W/O Mxolisi Nkosi on 011 812 4607.
