School shoe drive in KwaThema

Kwatsaduza - The Cool Dads Foundation is hosting a family picnic, to encourage families to contribute to the school shoes drive that will be held on March 6, at Bulithando Park, KwaThema.

The event is part of the objectives of the foundation, to ensure that they foster family interactions and bonds, to uplift and make a difference in the lives of children.

Chief executive officer Bongani Luvalo says many young people from local schools come from disadvantaged homes and this has been a scourge in most communities.

“A child deserves to be provided with the necessary essentials when attending school, the uniform a child puts on as a scholar identifies him/her being fully equipped to attend classes,” he says.

One shortage that stands out is the lack of school shoes and Cool Dads aims to bridge this gap by being a helping hand.

“We are fully aware of the challenges many children face in ensuring that they are in a better mental and physical state to learn and grow,” adds Luvalo.

The foundation is collecting as many pairs of school shoes as possible and are appealing to members of the community to donate a pair or to make pledges.

Entrance to the family picnic is a pair of school shoes or a cash donation, and entertainment by the likes of Dj Sbu, Kwesta and many more will keep families entertained on the day.

All proceeds will be distributed to various local schools.
