Foetus dumped in open space

Duduza – The police are searching for the biological mother of a foetus that was discovered on Thursday morning, at about 9.05am in Duduza.

Police spokesman W/O Imtiaz Yakub Rasool, says the police had received a call from a community member informing them that an infant had dumped in Zulu Section, at the open space behind Roseview Primary School.

“On arrival the police found the complaint who had called to the station and she was able to show the police where the foetus was.

“We suspect that this foetus was about four to six months, but the mother is unknown,” says Rasool.

He says that they are urgently asking for any community members with information regarding this matter or who can identify the mother to contact Constable Mlungisi Ntetheni on 011 730-4737/ 4735.

All information will be treated as confidential and people who can provide information can remain anonymous.

A case of concealment of birth has been opened at the Duduza Police Station.

Joyce Tseko (47) who discovered the foetus says she normally goes around collecting plastic bottles, so she went to the open space, pulled the blanket and plastics but then heard something fall out.

“I ran away thinking it was a snake, however, when I saw nothing moving I returned to the blanket.

“As I was unsure what I was seeing, I rushed to the school next to the open space to find someone to help me and when they confirmed it was a foetus that still had a cord, we called the police,” she says.
