The Ekurhuleni Metro will not change its refuse removal schedule for 2016, following the adoption of a fixed calendar system.
“It is therefore the responsibility of each household to familiarise themselves with the refuse removal schedule in order to know the day in which refuse is to be collected,” says Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro.
Residents will be receiving colour-coded refuse removal calendars which reflect the collection days for 52 weeks of the year.
“Furthermore, waste collection services will be provided on all public holidays except December 25 and this will result in a consistent service all year around.”
The calendars will also be available in due course on www.ekurhuleni.gov.za.
Residents are urged to ensure that their bins (not plastic bags) are on the sidewalk as early as 7am on the allocated collection day.
