VARIOUS stakeholders from the City of Johannesburg joined forces on Friday, February 5, to cleanup the South of Johannesburg with the help of SAPS and the JMPD.

This operation was initiated by the Environmental Health Region F and SAPS which included the JMPD Dog Unit, members of the JMPD enforcing bylaws, EMS Fire Safety, Moffatview and Booysens Community Policing Forums (CPF), private security companies as well as local PR councillor Tyrell Meyers.

Twelve premises were inspected including derelict buildings, night clubs, shebeens and taverns. Items such as drugs, alcohol, dangerous weapons (knives, drills and sharp objects) and possible stolen goods were confiscated. During an inspection at an alleged brothel, the number of young children that frequent the property was concerning. Parents need to take note of the whereabouts of their children at all times, especially at night and during the weekends.

These operations are ongoing to ensure continuous monitoring of non-compliant premises in the communities. Operations of this nature are undertaken to promote a healthier and safer environment for all the people of the south.
