Hijackings on the increase

Tsakane – The Tsakane SAPS are pleading with residents to take extra precaution after three hijacking cases were reported at the police station over the weekend.

Capt Petros Mabuza, Tskane police spokesman, says most of these hijacking occurred when the owners were opening gates or garage doors.

“We advise motorists to at least phone someone to open the gates and the garage for them instead of doing it themselves, especially at night.

“Look around for any suspicious people on the street as you approach your house and when you get to your home, don’t leave your car idling while opening the gates or garage.

“Also make sure that you change your daily route and don’t use the same road or street when entering your residential area,” he says

Residents are still urged to know and make use of their sector vehicle numbers.
