Organisation helps youth

Tsakane - The Ithemba Foundation is offering the matriculants and the youth of Kwatsaduza assistance with skills development, computer skills, job seeking and career development advice.

The organisation aims to assist students who recently passed their National Senior Certificates and have no financial aid, to receive help through the programmes they offer.

General manager Sandile Tsie says that, as an organisation, they are well aware that not every matriculant will have an opportunity to go and study — due to a lack of finances or failure — but that this shouldn’t be the end of the road for them.

“We have programmes designed to assist the youth who come straight out of high school, so they are ready to develop and further themselves through skills and entrepreneurship,” he explains.

The organisation also helps learners who have failed matric or didn’t do well to register for supplementary exams and re-writes.

“These programmes are opened to any young person in the community who needs assistance in bettering themselves and gaining skills to be more employable,” says Tsie.

The computer course runs over three months, after which the candidate will receive a State Information Technology Agency (SITA) accredited certificate.

Tsie says the only challenge they have as an organisation is having people who don’t commit to the programmes and drop out during the course.

“We can assist only those people who are serious about their future and are willing to put in the work,” he adds.
