Duduza pass rate decreases

Duduza -Three out of the five secondary schools in Duduza saw a decrease in their matric pass rate this year.

Asser Maloka Secondary School topped all the Duduza secondary schools with a pass rate of 92.21%, increasing from last year’s 82.60%.

There were 167 students who wrote exams and only 13 failed.

They managed to receive 53 bachelor passes, 60 diplomas, 41 higher certificates and eight distinctions.

Principal Medi Sehume says he thanks all the educators for their unwavering support to the students, with extra lessons and morning classes.

“I’d like to also congratulate all the matriculants and thank them for their cooperation and commitment. Also to the parents who have been active since day one,” he says.

M.O.M Seboni Secondary School’s pass rate has decreased from 69.90% to 68.45% this year.

The school saw 298 students writing the final exams and they managed to achieve 68 bachelors passes, 98 diplomas, 38 higher certificates and 20 distinctions.

School principal Sylvester Ndebele says he is disappointed that in the past two years they have been getting a pass rate below 70%.

“We will try this year to get our pass rate high again as we were one of the top schools in Duduza,” he says.

Esibonelwesihle Secondary School’s received a pass rate of 62% ,decreasing by 10% from last years 72%.

They received 41 bachelors passes, 52 diplomas, 38 higher certificates and 23 distinctions.

Principal Kamohelo Motloung says they hoped for the best and didn’t anticipate a decrease but they will work harder this year for better results.

Thandi Sibeko Secondary School managed a pass rate of 52.46%, dropping drastically from 67% last year.

NN Ndebele Secondary School attained a pass rate of 68%, increasing from last years 64%.
