Residents donate to orphanage

KwaThema - Community members of KwaThema donated groceries and shoes to the Tholakele Centre of Hope in KwaThema on Wednesday.

The local men who made the donation possible are Mathaele Motlhabane, Kagiso Sithole, Sibusiso Manqele, Pule Khambule and Abuti Malohle who are also members of Kutloano Social Organisation (KUSO) which also assists many different organisations around Kwatsaduza.

Tholakele Centre of Hope cares for 49 children, some are in-housed and others are out-housed.

Director of the centre, Tilly Tshabalala, says she is grateful for the generous donation from the group of friends, who saw fit to put smiles on the children’s faces.

“It brings joy to my heart to know that these children, who don’t have parents, have community members who love and think about them during the festive season,” says Tshabalala.

Manqele says they wanted to do something special for the less privileged children in the community, because they don’t have parents who will buy them gifts and nice food to enjoy during the Christmas holidays.

“As friends we know how important Christmas is for children so we sought to put a smile on the children of Tholakele Centre of Hope.

“We want to challenge other men in the community to also do something special for the less fortunate.

“Men in the community are sometimes portrayed negatively so we want the community to know that there are still good and responsible men in the community,” he says.
