Police warn residents on recruitment scam

Kwatsaduza – The South African Police Service (SAPS) is warning residents of a scam that is currently taking placing regarding the recruitment of new trainees in their department.

In a statement from the SAPS national media centre, police say it has come to their attention that there is an online recruitment scam currently operating in the country.

“The scammers are inviting unsuspecting job seekers to apply for bogus ‘Police Trainee Posts’.

“The SAPS wishes to advise the public not to fall for such a scam as there has not been any new advertisement from the SAPS for entry level trainees and as such, there are no vacant posts available for aspiring police officers currently.

“Furthermore, the SAPS would like to remind the public that they do not advertise any post via smses, as when there are any vacancies in the organisation, posts are advertised in newspapers and the application form is available, free, at all police stations,” says the statement.

The SAPS says it views this scam in a very serious light and has instituted an investigation to find the perpetrators.

Those who have fallen victim of these heartless criminals are urged to contact their nearest police station.
