Kwatsaduza – The 16 Days for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign is observed from November 25 to December, and during this time, residents are encouraged to speak out against abuse and for victims of abuse to seek help.

The country joined this international campaign in 1998 as one of the intervention strategies towards creating a society free of violence.

The campaign strives to raise awareness amongst South Africans about the negative impact of violence against women and children.

It also aims to get communities to promote collective responsibility in the fight to eliminate violence against women and children.

There are various forms of violence that women and children can experience, including physical violence, domestic violence, emotional violence and psychological violence.

To show your support of the campaign, white ribbons can be worn.During the campaign, women abuse victims are encouraged to speak out about the abuse and seek help.

The community are encouraged to report child abuse to the police and children are urged to report bullying .

The government also urges communities to speak out and take a collective stand against children and women.
