According to Tsakane police spokesperson, Capt Petros Mabuza, refuse was found dumped in the yard at 36503 Sifiso Street, in Tsakane Extension 16, where the explosion took place.
“It is not yet known what the explosive was or who dumped the rubbish in this yard,” Mabuza says.
“Twelve houses were affected by the explosion; windowpanes were damaged and some electrical appliances, including TVs and a fridge, were destroyed.
“The Explosives Unit took some samples to determine the type of the explosive that was used.
Mabuza says 12 cases of malicious damage to property were opened at the police station.
