Maths and science made easy

Tsakane – Mathematics Excelling Academy offers extra classes for maths and science to high schools learners.

The extra lessons for learners in Grade Eight, Nine, 10, 11 and matric, are held at Langaville Secondary School in Tsakane.

Collen Msibi (24) started offering the classes in 2010, after he realised that many students struggle with these two subjects at school.

“I always helped people with maths and science in school and in the process I developed a passion for teaching,” says Msibi.

Msibi adds that even though he is a civil engineering graduate, he prefers to teach others.

He believes his method of teaching and ensuring learners understand the subject matter is more successful than conventional methods.

“Many of my students have improved at school and have shown enthusiasm in wanting to master the subjects,” he says.

Msibi is currently tutoring 33 students and is assisted by two tutors, Lunga Tame (21) and Wiseman Mrha (25).

“All learners are welcomed to come join the classes at no cost,” he adds.

The classes are held Monday to Friday from 3pm to 5pm.

Registration for next year is open and will close on November 30.

Forms can be collected at Langaville Secondary School during school hours or contact Msibi on 078 729 7675 or 081 582 8141.
