Former councillor dies

KwaThema - Former councillor Jafta Paper Mogotsi (64) died in hospital on Sunday, following a short illness.

Mogotsi was born near the Payneville old location on May 8, 1951.

He attended Fred Hadebi Primary School, Phamaka Primary school and then Tlakula Senior Secondary where he obtained his junior certificate

He was a footballer and served the community with pride.

Mogotsi was involved in various community activities and served Ward 78 Extension One, formerly known as Nyanyatho, in the late 80s and early 90s.

He also belonged to the mayoral committee during his time in office.

His family says that he was always available to serve the community and showed a lot of leadership skills.

Mogosti also played professional football for Katlehong City and Bolton Villa.

His love of football led him to establish a football team, Omega Bonton Villa Football Club, while in his retirement.

Those who knew him say Mogosti will be sorely missed by his family and the community at large.

His funeral service will be held tomorrow (Saturday), at the AME Church, in Ntsane Street, KwaThema.

The service will start at 9am and the cortège will leave for the Brakpan Cemetery at 11.30am.
