Job Maseko Primary win Indigenous Games

KwaThema - Job Maseko Primary School won the Indigenous Games that took place last Thursday at the Charl Baard Stadium in Brakpan.

Job Maseko Primary School represented the Gauteng East District at the games where 15 districts from around Gauteng came to compete.

These games are an initiative of the Department of Education and aim to to keep learners busy with extramural activities and teach them about local indigenous games that are not played by youngsters nowadays.

The teams are made up 12 learners, boys and girls, and they play different games, such as skipping rope games and African indigenous games.

Principal of Job Maseko Primary School, Morin Mpye, says she is happy her learners performed so well at the games, especially because it was the first time the games were held.

“This shows that the team is committed and enjoy playing indigenous games,”says Mpye.
