Professionals motivate Grade Seven learners

Duduza - Sizwesethu Primary School in Duduza hosted a Career Day for Grade Seven learners on Friday.

Professionals in different fields were present to motivate and talk about their careers choices.

The school’s head of department for Life Orientation (LO), Moxolisi Modiga, says it is important that learners explore different professions so they know what to study in order to pursue their chosen career.

“Grade Seven learners are going to high school next year, if they know what it is they want to study, it will be easier for them to make informed decisions when choosing subjects,” says Modiga.

He further says that this exercise forms part of the LO curriculum as the subject is there to guide and equip learners about life skills.

Learners came dressed to school in the attire of their chosen profession.

Nurse Karabo Lechelele spoke about her journey in becoming a nurse, which subjects she took in high school and where learners can train to be a nurse.

“Nursing is a broad profession, you can specialise in different nursing fields and can study further to be a matron,” says Lechelele.

She further says it is imperative that young people choose a career they are passionate about because that will make them enjoy their job and want to explore it further.
