Fitness promoted in Langaville

Tsakane - Professional athlete and fitness instructor Sakhi Kgaphola holds aerobic classes for adults at Langaville Secondary School, from Monday to Friday, from 5.30pn till 7pm.

He explains that his passion for fitness started when he was a young boy and that he has never stopped training and leading a healthy lifestyle.

“I want to promote healthy living and fitness in my community, especially to adults and senior citizens, because they are more prone to sickness and diseases,” says Kgaphola.

He adds that most people in the community think those who need to keep fit and follow a healthy lifestyle programme are fat or obese, but that’s the wrong mentality and misleads people to think they are healthy because they are not fat,” he adds.

Kgaphola also has a special exercise programme set aside for pregnant women who want to maintain their exercise routine while they are pregnant.

“I advise pregnant women to keep fit throughout their pregnancy; this benefits them and prepares them for labour, ” says Kgaphola.

Nelly Madonsela (20), who is a member of Kgaphola’s aerobics class, says her lifestyle has changed since she joined the class. She is more active and hardly feels fatigued.

“Being a part of the aerobics class, I’ve learnt a lot about my body and what I need to do to keep it functioning well, mentally and physically,” says Madonsela.

Everyone is welcomed to come along and be a part of the aerobics class.
