Street light repaired in Tsakane

Tsakane – A street light was been repaired at the corner of Ndabizitha and Nzima streets, in Tsakane, on Monday, after it was allegedly hit by a motorist who was spinning his car last Saturday night.

According to residents, the damaged street light affected the connection of the rest of the street lights in Ndabizitha Street, because a cable was disturbed when the light fell, leaving the whole street in darkness.

Resident Themba Nkosi explains that they heard a car screech on Saturday night, followed by a huge bang which was the street light falling down.

“The whole street was dark, because of people who are negligent in the road; we are grateful that the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) has attended to our query so fast,” says Nkosi.

Ward councillor George Kodisang says motorists must adhere to the rules of the road and refrain from acts that put people’s lives in danger and, in the process, damage the metro’s property, that is there for the use of the community.

“As a community we need to take care of our property and report individuals who damage our property because of negligence,” adds Kodisang.
