Duduza Fire Station will be operating next month

Duduza – Community members of Duduza are anticipating the opening of the new fire station in Selepe Street.

According to Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) media liaison officer, William Ntladi, the Duduza Fire Station will be officially opened on November 5.

After many delays, including problems with contractors, community members are hoping that no more problems will arise.

In an article published in the African Reporter in May, ‘Fire stations should be completed by October’, ward councillor Tiny Mabena explained that new contractors were appointed to continue with the work.

Community member Lethabo Nxumalo (34) says the fire station is long overdue and will be beneficial.

“It will help to have our very own fire station so we can get a faster response from emergency services,” says Nxumalo.
