Three men wanted for attacking police officer

Tsakane - An off-duty member of the Duduza SAPS was attacked by three men last Wednesday.

The incident took place at about 4.30pm at the Tsakane Corner Shopping Centre in Extension 19.

According to police spokesperson, Capt Johannes Ramphora, the trio attempted to rob the officer of his service pistol.

The officer was able to fight the men off and safeguard his weapon.

“The attacked officer was taken to Life Parkland Clinic by a friend and was hospitalised after he sustained multiple head wounds from being hit with a panga.

“He was stitched up and transferred to Life Suikerbosrand Clinic for further treatment and is stable.

“The officer remembers what the suspects look like, but does not know who they are,” says Ramphora.

No arrests have been made, but a case of assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm has been opened at the Tsakane Police Station and the investigation continues.
