Nyiketane Mashele makes it to provincial level of Social Science Olympiad
KwaThema - Nyiketane Mashele (12), a Grade Six learner from Nkabinde Primary School, will represent the Gauteng East District in the Provincial Social Science Olympiad to be held on October 10 at Glenvista, Johannesburg.
This comes after Mashele won both the cluster and district level of the Olympiad.
The cluster level was held at Tshimong Primary School on September 8 while the district level took place at the district offices in Springs on September 15.
“During each round of the Olympiad, the learners were asked about current events, geography and map work among other things, which is work that they have been doing throughout the year in their curriculum,,” says the school’s social science head of department, Steffi Langa.
“Mashele has done exceptionally well and has stood out in the process.
“Well done girl, we are really proud of you and your work and we wish you all the best of luck in the upcoming level of the Olympiad.
“Go out there and make your mark.”
