Getting to know more about your future career

Geluksdal – Grade seven learners of Geluksdal Primary School 2, participated in a recent Career Day.

The Career Day hoped to encourage the learners to start having dreams and a vision for their future studies and careers.

Deputy Principal, Pinky Mofokeng, who also teaches life orientation, says this activity falls in line with the learners’ syllabus.

“The career day is part of the grade seven curriculum and it teaches them to start identifying different careers now, the different characteristics in themselves, whether they relate to the job they want and if the careers they want to go into goes with their personality.

“The children then research the careers they would love to do in future and on the Career Day, they dress up in the attires of the professions they want to go into.

“We then give them a chance to stand in front of their peers and share information about their careers, why they love it and the subjects they need for it,” explained Mofokeng.

She says it is imperative that learners start exploring careers in primary school, so that when they enter high school, they can choose the correct subjects needed for their future careers.
