‘Conversation with Men’ offically lauched

KwaThema - A ‘Conversation with Men’ launch took place at Da Venue over the weekend.

The event served as a platform for men to discuss various issues that concern them in society and further aimed at mobilising them to regain dignity through doing good within their communities.

The dialogue focused on business and economy, lifestyle and health, politics and governance, and religion.

“This is not a one day activity, but a programme that will result in a plan of action, informed by needs identified during the dialogues.

“We want to get men talking about matters that are affecting them.

“When we created this, we had a vision to help men find their identity and purpose,” says founder of the Conversation with Men, Bongani Mgayo.

He says there is a need for men to understand themselves and not abuse their power in society.

Mgato believes men should talk more about what they are doing to change the country for the better.

“We need to know who we are and to understand our surroundings so we can lead,” he says.

Speakers included Dr Callisto Sello, who is a urologist at Chris Hani Baragwaneth Academic Hospital, Dr Mveleli Gqwede, also know as Dr Love and who deals with community development programmers, Past Motlodi Montle, the founding pastor at Empowerment Ministries Fellowship and director of Montle Business Consulting, and Jabulani Ngcobo, an entrepreneur.

Thabang Mabuza, founder of Lions Dean Global, says they plan to take this conversation to all nine provinces, targeting about 1 800 men.

He says they will also be writing a book about these conversations.

“We are extremely happy with the number of people attending as for us it’s not about figures but impact,” Mabuza says.
