Local girl crowed Miss Toddler and Tween World

Geluksdal - Last Saturday, Channelle Karel (12) from Geluksdal was crowned in Klerksdorp as Miss Toddler and Tween World and received a R10 000 cash prize.

The grade six learner from Geluksdal Primary School, was participating in the beauty pageant for the second time this year and was more than prepared to take the crown.

According to the beauty queen’s mother, Nokuthula Karel (38), her daughter was determined to win the crown as they trained and went all out designing outfits for the pageant.

“We put in a lot of time and thought into this particular pageant, because we wanted to win the crown as Channelle didn’t make it last year. I’m happy that our efforts paid off,” said Nokuthula.

Channelle said she has been entering beauty pageants since the age of five and enjoys every pageant she enters because she gets to dress up, look pretty and feel like a princess.

She has won a number of pageant titles including Miss Jacaranda.

Channelle said she wants to be a school teacher and will continue entering pageants in hopes of becoming Miss Universe.
