According to Capt Johannes Ramphora, spokesman for Springs police, a neighbour rushed to the police station to report domestic violence taking place at an address in Zimu Street.
He says when police arrived at the address, they found the victim covered with a blanket.
The man had stab wounds to his body.
His girlfriend was arrested and is expected to appear in court soon on a charge of murder.
Police were unable to confirm the ages of the suspect or victim, or the type of weapon used.
