Bringing about change

KwaThema - Movement for Change is working to bring about change in Kwatsaduza.

The movement was founded in April, last year, by Musa Zwane, who spent 15 years in prison for different crimes including hijacking, and other former prisoners.

Members of the movement have been conducting crime prevention talks and educating learners about life in prison.

They have visited many primary and secondary schools in KwaThema to share their experiences in prison with learners.

The movement is now introducing youth and community development programmes and a school support programme.

Zwane says they want to help young people start and register their own businesses.

“The youth have ideas on starting their own businesses but do not know where and how to get money to start these businesses,” he says.

According to Zwane, it is the movement’s dream to see all small businesses in the township registered, creating employment for others.

He then explains that some Grade 10 to 12 learners struggle with maths, accounting and science, and they want to assist them by offering extra classes in these subjects on Saturdays.

Zwane invites the youth of Kwatsaduza to attend a workshop covering these issues on September 12.

The workshop will be held at 10am at the KwaThema Family Skills Centre, corner of Job Maseko and Thema Road.
